Grr...
I am not a people person. At all. I knew that I would have to deal with the public when I accepted this position but I didn't know how dumb some people can be. I know that I have to maintain a friendly façade when dealing with people but it's hard. I've only been working two and a half weeks and already I can't wait to go home. My contract goes until September 10th which is forever from now. I would love to go home and visit but I know if I did, I would want to stay and not come back. Don't get me wrong, the scenery is amazing and most of the employees are cool people but I can't deal with the public. I thought this job would help me strengthen both my people and customer service skills but at the same time I'm withdrawing deeper and deeper into the shell I've worked so hard to come out of. It makes me a little mad to see people spending money like they're made of it. It seems like most people coming up here want to do everything and don't care how much it costs. I've had one person ask me how much it would be to rent out one of our lake tour boats. Almost $1000 (38 seats x $30/person)... I've also heard of a guy last year spending up to $20,000 on rooms, activities, etc. for a family reunion and tell family members not to pay him back. I don't know why it irritates me so much but it does. It feels like the only thing I have to look forward to on a weekly basis is my three days off (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and those days go by way too quickly.
I guess I'm saying my patience is quickly running out and I'm in for a long, hard, frusterating, (potentially) not great summer.

My job is...
an Activities Desk Agent at Colter Bay Village, Grand Teton National Park this summer. Basically, I sign people up to do different activities here in the park. We offer a float trip down the Snake River (this is a good chance to hopefully view some wildlife) that leaves from the lodge 5 miles down the road (Jackson Lake Lodge), horseback rides and (a little later this summer) a breakfast and dinner chuckwagon/horseback ride at the corral, canoe/kayak/motor boat rentals, guided lake/fly fishing trips, and a scenic lake cruise from the Marina, scenic bus tours of both parks here (Grand Teton and Yellowstone), and of course there are lots of hiking trails.
So far, I have been on a scenic lake cruise and the Yellowstone bus tour. The cruise was nice. The maximum speed was 10 mph and it is narrated - the First Mate narrates and tells you about the geology, history, peoples, etc. of not only the Colter Bay area but also Jackson Hole and a little bit about Yellowstone. The Yellowstone tour was absolutely amazing! We saw lots of bison and elk, lots of waterfowl, and a lone wolf.
It's not been as busy as I thought it would have been, but It's just the start of the season. From what the ladies I work with (Sue from Arvada, CO and Becky from here in WY) have told me, things will start to pick up towards the end of June and July - August (peak season) will be crazy busy. That will be fine with me. It'll make my 10.5 hour days go by that much faster. Yes, I said 10 hour days - I work four 10.5 hours days each week (Sunday, Monday, Friday, and Saturday) and I have Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday off - I only take a 30 minute lunch. The schedule is flexible enough I am able to rearrange my schedule a little bit when family comes to visit so I can spend time with them. I like that. :) My current supervisor, Stephanie, is leaving next week because she and her husband are expecting a baby in a couple weeks so we're going to get a new supervisor, Miranda. She is supposed to start next Wednesday, June 3rd after Stephanie trains her on June 2nd.
The weather here has been... interesting. Most of the time I've been here the day has started out cloudy/rainy and cold and has warmed up a little with the sun coming out mid-morning or so. It's gotten windy every afternoon so far but it's not like Alamosa wind, thank goodness.
That's pretty much everything for the tiem being. I'll try to do a weekly update or just write a short something whenever I have time later in the season.

Hello from Wyoming!
Hi all. I haven't been able to post anything until now because I haven't had access to the internet. I'll try to post pintures as much as I can to keep you guys as up to date with my adventure this summer as I can. Here are a couple pictures to get started:
